Release Notes what's new in MyPlate

Task descriptions can now hold a great deal more than before — long write-ups, pasted logs and detailed instructions all fit comfortably.

• More room to write. The old limit was easy to hit without realizing it, especially after pasting a screenshot straight into the description. There’s now room for about 4 MB — plenty for your text plus a few screenshots right where you need them.
• Formatting that sticks. An image you resized in the description now stays that size — before, a large screenshot looked right when you added it, then came back oversized the next time you opened the task. Text color, highlighting, font size, alignment and table borders are remembered now too, and no image can spill outside the description, whatever its size.
• A clear heads-up instead of a failed save. If a description does grow past the limit, MyPlate tells you right under the editor and holds off saving until it’s trimmed — nothing else on the task is affected.
• Big images and documents belong in Files. Large pictures are almost always what fills a description up. Attach those in the task’s Files section instead: they get thumbnails and download at full quality.

A small fix for anyone who has connected an AI assistant to MyPlate.

• Notes stay plain. Task notes have always been plain text — what you type is exactly what you see, line breaks and all — while the task description is the rich-text field. Connected assistants now know the difference, so the notes they add on your behalf read as clean sentences instead of showing stray formatting tags.
• Same rule in the API docs. The API reference now spells out which fields take HTML and which take plain text, so your own integrations get it right too.

Nothing to do on your end — existing notes are untouched. See Connect an AI assistant in the Help Center if you haven’t tried it yet.

Some tasks simply can’t start until something else is finished — you can’t paint the wall before you’ve bought the paint. MyPlate now understands that.

• Blocked by. Open a task and use the new Dependencies card to say which other tasks it’s blocked by — start typing and pick from your tasks. The card also shows what a task blocks, and lets you add a follow-up task that waits on it.
• Out of the way, not out of sight. Blocked tasks stay on your lists but show up greyed out with a Blocked badge (hover it to see what they’re waiting on). A new Blocked filter lets you hide them, or see only them, and it works with saved filters.
• It unblocks itself. The moment the last thing a task was waiting on is completed, it’s ready — and MyPlate tells the people on it by email or push notification. Reopen a blocker and its dependents are blocked again, automatically.
• You’re still in charge. Completing a task that’s still blocked just asks you to confirm. Dependencies can’t go in a circle, and they’re in the API and available to your connected AI assistants too.

Finished six things and only now getting round to ticking them off? Your task lists let you check as many tasks as you like and apply one action to the whole lot — no more opening them one at a time.

• Check what you want. A checkbox sits at the start of every row, and one in the header selects the whole page at once.
• Then pick an action. A bar appears as soon as something is checked: Mark Complete, Reopen, or Delete. It stays out of the way until you need it.
• On your phone too. Task cards get the same checkbox, with a “Select all” at the top of the list.

Deleting in bulk is the same safe, reversible delete as always — your tasks land in Recently Deleted, and the confirmation comes with an Undo link if you change your mind.

Attachments on your tasks are now stored on MyPlate’s own servers — kept private and served only to people who can see the task. Nothing about how you upload or open files changes.

• Private by default. Files aren’t reachable by any public link — the only way to a file is through MyPlate, after a permission check.
• New “Copy link” button. Need to send someone a file who isn’t on the task? Copy a temporary sharing link that works for about an hour, then expires on its own.
• Same uploads and previews. Drag-and-drop, image thumbnails, and downloads all work exactly as before.

Your task lists now show which tasks have time logged against them — without opening a thing.

• A clock on every timed task. A new clock column sits right next to the attachment indicator on My Tasks, Team Tasks, and Shared Tasks. If a task has any tracked time, its clock lights up.
• Hover for the total. Point at the clock to see how much time has been logged on that task (a running timer counts too).
• On mobile as well. Task cards show the same clock with a short “time tracked” label.

We’ve made MyPlate’s email delivery more resilient.

• Automatic retries. If a notification can’t be sent the moment it’s triggered — for example a brief hiccup reaching our mail service — MyPlate now quietly tries again a few minutes later instead of giving up. You don’t need to do anything.

The result: fewer missed invitations, reminders and password-reset emails.

We’ve strengthened the security of our sign-up page.

• A quick human check when you create an account. A lightweight, privacy-friendly verification now runs on the sign-up form to keep automated spam accounts out. Most people won’t have to do anything — it usually happens automatically in the background.

The result: fewer junk accounts and a safer, cleaner MyPlate for real members.

MyPlate can now tap you on the shoulder at just the right moment.

• Task reminders. Open any task and add as many reminders as you like — each one fires at the time you pick, in your timezone, by email, push notification, or both.
• Push notifications. Get real notifications on your phone or computer, just like a native app. Turn them on under My Account > Push Notifications. On iPhone or iPad, first add MyPlate to your Home Screen (Share → Add to Home Screen), then enable notifications from inside the app.
• Everywhere you work. Reminders are also in the MyPlate API and available to your connected AI assistants.

Never let a task sneak past you again. ⏰

Sharing a task just got quicker.

• Suggestions as you type. The “Share with (email)” box now offers people you’re already connected to — anyone you’ve shared a task with, anyone who’s shared one with you, and your teammates.
• Pick or type. Filter the list as you type and choose with a click or the arrow keys — or just type any email address, exactly as before.
• No more unhelpful autofill. Your browser will no longer try to fill in its own saved addresses (like your own) there.
